First hand review: Tamron 45mm f1.8 Di VC USD
My first blogpost will be in english because of the topic.
I had an honour to write a review of Tamron 45mm f1.8 Di VC USD-lens for Focusnordic Sweden. Lens arrived right before new year and I have had few good testshoots with it in different conditions . The lens itself feels firm and with its weight gives you a feeling of a good quality product.
For model shoots the focal length is perfect for full body and half body shots. Image is sharp even comparing to Canon L-lenses I normally use for this kind of photography. Af works fast (and silent) and is precise. I would definitely recommend this for model shoots!
The VC (image stabiliser) comes handy in lowlight conditions and you can bend the shutter speed a little further than normally could be possible. I shot wedding photos with 1/25s shutter speed which is quite good with this focal length. But you still have to be carefull with moving subjects. Lens provides good af with low light (even in iso8000 f1.8 conditions) and performs good with my canon 1Dx. It’s a good all around lens for documentary photography if there is space. Normally I would use 35mm for this kind of photography with ff-body. I love the dof @ f1.8!
I would definitely recommend this lens for advanced amateurs and even to professional use =) Quite extraordinary focal length for FF but still quite different than 50mm or 35mm. If you do not own 35 and 50mm and want one lens instead of two, then this will be your choice!
